DarkRP Rules I. Common Courtesy Be kind to others, and think before you type. There is no need to be hurtful or abusive, especially towards staff members who are here to help you. This rule can be explained with the following quote: "You shall never bother others, you shall be both fair and kind, and whatever else you do, I shall not mind." You must be responsible for your actions at all times. You may not disrupt, stall, or void roleplay unless an admin explicitly tells you to. Here are some examples that violate this: Leaving the server to avoid punishment, regardless of the reason. Repeatedly baiting or encouraging others to violate rules. If an admin is trying to contact you, you are obligated to respond to their inquiry. Refusing and/or ignoring an admin's message could get you punished. The word of an admin is final, and their instructions should be followed across all of our platforms, whether they are written in the rules or not. Disputing admin instructions or actions should be done with a staff report after the fact. Chats outside of private messages should be spoken in English only. If you have a 'how-to' question or a general inquiry about the server, you can use "@ (insert message here)" to send a message to our staff. If you have any issues with someone, then feel free to open a staff request or report them on the forums. Directly messaging admins is not something we recommend. While your intentions may be pure, more often than not, our staff is handling a high volume of requests from other players. It will actually be easier to wait for a response from the staff request. You are allowed to idle / AFK, provided you are not standing in a highly populated area or somewhere where someone is likely to interact with you. If you AFK in public, it is done at your own risk. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. II. Metagaming (MG) Using out of character information in character by any means is defined as metagaming and is not allowed. Inciting someone to metagame, which means causing someone else to metagame intentionally, is also not allowed. Any interactions that occur between two players are void when you lose sight of them for 10 seconds in total. Job switching voids any RP scenario following up to this point. You are allowed to hold sight of the player for a maximum of two minutes before any situation is void. Punishment: Anything from an admin-jail to a ban, depending on the severity and outcome of your actions. III. Random Deathmatching (RDM) Assault is defined as anything that damages or threatens you, as well as anything else below: Tasing, bug bait, wants, warrants, stunsticking, and strangling. Killing or attempting to kill another person with little to no reason is not allowed. However, players who are directly harming your life, property, and/or freedom may be killed without warning. Kills that are born from clear but unsatisfied (no damage) hostile intent will be allowed when there is video proof of the hostile intent. All other cases require a 10-Second Warning including a clear set of instructions delivered through typed chat and 10+ seconds for validity. It is the full responsibility of the player who initiated the warning to ensure all intended targets are aware of the warning outside the vicinity of their base (designated by raid zone), should they ask in chat. Killing or attempting to kill the person or group who puts a warning in chat and does not target you is not allowed. If you are unsure if the warning was specifically directed at you, you will need to confirm with the issuer. If all instructions for a warning have been met in full, you must not kill the receiver of the warning. The consequence of failing to react to the warning does not have to be detailed; all valid warnings are automatically a threat, excluding 10-second demote warnings. If the intended target of a warning shows any form of hostile intent, action against them can be instant. Disregarding the 10-second timer. Hostile intent actions can be described as, but are not limited to: unholstering any weapon or baton, assault, raiding, attempting to arrest, stealing or tampering with property, 10-second warnings that apply to you, etcetera. Revenge killing is described as trying to enact revenge by killing or assaulting the person or group who just killed you, whether it is moments after or a week later. Unless a new reason has developed, this is considered revenge killing. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. IV. Robbing, Mugging, & Scamming Robbing is defined as taking someone's possessions (money, items, etc.) by force or threat of force. Scamming is defined as hiring another person for a service or agreeing to buy or sell a certain good (guns, drugs, etc.) and then refusing to pay or give it. Players that have less than 50 hours cannot be the sole target of a robbery or mugging. If an administrator feels that a player with less than 50 hours is taking unfair or malicious advantage of their exemption, they can punish them at their own discretion. Scamming in any sense is strictly forbidden. Always use text chat when conducting transactions, as staff will have logs of this in the event you are scammed. You can mug a maximum of $5,000 from a player, and a 10-second mug warning must be given to the player. Ensure that you clearly specify the player you're attempting to mug and the amount. This limit may change in the future as our economy develops and finds its footing. You may not knowingly rob or mug the same player more than once in a 10-minute period. Loaning and all outside forms of gambling (peer-to-peer) are done at your own risk and are not protected by hour requirements. Admins will not help you if you lend money to other people and they do not return it, or if your money gets stolen while you are gambling. If a person runs off with your money and gets banned, then any given items are lost with their punishment. Only give your stuff to people you trust, and only gamble if you are willing to accept a potential loss. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. V. Building & Basing Prop blocking, entity/door spamming, griefing, and minging are not allowed. Large and intrusive builds are not allowed and may be subject to removal. You may not have more than 3 fading doors providing access to your entire base and its contents, along with ten props max for each fading door. All base layouts should be clear and concise. This includes no mazes, fading bridges, traps, falling ceiling props, puzzles, hidden pads, etc. Bases must not force a player to crouch, jump, or walk precisely. The base must not extend more than 5 shoulder lengths from the outer walls of the building. No sky bases. Combining multiple bases into one mega-base is not allowed. Holding property with the intent to resell it (Property Real Estate) is not allowed. An unused but owned base is subject to forced removal given another player wishes to use the base. Building signs may be used while building to protect the builder from the RP world. These signs must be clearly visible and removed whenever the build is finished. Under the protection of these signs, players cannot interact with the builder unless otherwise stated in the rules. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. VI. Raiding You must not raid clearly empty bases with no raidables or building signs. You must wait 10 minutes to raid the same base or player/group related to the base again. These raids must not last longer than 10 minutes. There are raid permissions with jobs, and you must have these in order to raid, except raiding to escape jail, which you can do as any class. A raid zone can generally be defined as the small proximity around the base, but it is literally defined as 10 shoulder lengths from any of the base's entrances, exits, or walls. Any player who has entered the raid zone may be killed on sight. Leaving or dying in a raid zone removes you from that raid, and you are not allowed to participate anymore unless you leave to kill an armed participant of the raid. This does not apply to defenders, as they can return consistently. There must not be any props spawned or building or modifying of the base with tools or physguns during an active raid. Non-participants of the raid must not interfere with or contribute to the raid with actions such as supplying, assaulting, body blocking, strangling, etc. You are allowed to raid police checkpoints. Punishment: Anything from an admin-jail to a ban, depending on the severity and outcome of your actions. VII. RP Relation You may protect related players or property who are RP related to you. You can be related to other players by faction, basing together, customer transactions, job names, and jobs. Jobs Jobs can be RP related to one another. This can be seen via the F4 Jobs menu under the RP relations section. Government jobs have restrictions on RP relations, which can be found in government rules below. Job Names: Players can have the same job name and be RP related. Player A and Player B must have the same job name in order for the RP relation to be valid. Customers: During a transaction, the players involved are RP related to one another. Basing Together: Any co-owners of the base are RP related to one another while they are in the raid zone of their base. Faction Members: Every player in a faction is related to one another unless otherwise stated in the rules (government). You are not related to players in your Factions Alliance. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. VIII. Demotions Demotions may be called on a player who fails to carry out their job's responsibilities. These vary from job to job and can be seen under the job rules. The demotion reason must be a valid and thorough complaint in accordance with the guidelines listed below. Do not demote for server rules unless there are no staff online. Government corruption Refusing to sell items as a merchant Disobeying orders from a leadership job with hierarchy, such as Police Chief and Police. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. IX. Territories Territories are faction-based content, focused on maintaining a healthy competition between factions and serve as a catalyst for gaining season points. All territories have a specific timer in which they go into prime time (indicated on the NPC located next to the territory), during which they may be claimed by any participating faction. Anyone standing inside a territory within two minutes of the beginning or prime time may be killed to secure the territory. Government may not participate in territories, however, if a player is seen committing crimes in or around a territory and leaves, they may be arrested. Any attempt to abuse or avoid the teleport to arrest players in territory will be treated as bug abuse. Randomly selected at the beginning of a territory, MVPs are designated players who act as barriers to victory. In order to claim a territory, all opposing faction MVPs must be killed. After a MVP is killed they are unable to return. In addition, if any faction member is outside the territory when it begins, they will be unable to participate. Anyone not participating in the territory may not shoot into the territory or attempt to help in any way. Territory fights may not last longer than 30 minutes. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. X. Power Cores Power cores have a chance to spawn every 30 minutes, revealing their location and rarity in the chat. They may be picked up and slotted into territories to upgrade them or sold for cash to other factions. When a power core has 5 minutes or less until it unlocks, players may kill anyone within 10 shoulder lengths of the core. This zone continues to follow the core as it moves toward its destination, however, you may not drag the core toward an uninvolved player just to kill them. The core carrier or any person within its zone may be killed to steal the core or to guarantee less competition in its capture. Spawning buff boxes, or any concealing type of build which you shoot from to contest the core is strictly forbidden. You must make a reasonable attempt to bring the core to a territory to slot or sell. You may not leave a core on the ground and wait for another player to walk close to kill them. Punishment: Anything from a verbal warning to a ban, depending on severity. Job Rules Government: Government jobs have the most rules out of all classes. Read these rules if you play a Government job. General Rules Government cannot be RP related to non-government. Police should not kill based on non-immediate or non-assault hostile intent; instead, they should prioritize an arrest. The Mayor and Police Chief have the right to build in the Police Department. Arrest on Sight (AOS) May arrest on sight if you witness any broken laws or crimes being committed. Entering or exiting the PD, excluding the lobby. Possessing a weapon or body blocking in an active raid zone. Kill on Sight (KOS) Entering or exiting the PD, excluding the lobby. 10-Second Arrest Warnings These must be used in place of 10-second kill warnings. Must be used to return players to their homes during a lockdown. Fellow government personnel must be given a 10-second demote warning instead. Warranting/Wanting Must not plant evidence themselves or have others do so. Must only act on visible infractions. Examples are illegal items, names on doors or /go, advertisements, and local chats that admit to breaking a law. Police may warrant bases owned or co-owned by wanted individuals who are not able to be found. The wanted individual's name must be on the door or have surrounding props (/go). Raiding Must only raid with other government in the case of a search warrant. Must not return to any active raid zone, excluding the PD and any owned bases. Reasons for Demotion Refusing to enforce the laws Clearly witnessing any law or illegal act being committed and not making a thorough effort to catch the suspect. Corruption Breaking the laws themselves, except for laws that prohibit them from performing their duty. Intentionally releasing prisoners from the jail room. Blocking a doorway or not leaving your property after being given a 10-second warning. Failure to show your arrest baton inside PD after requested by another government job. Mayor: The mayor must not be killed during the mayor's grace or set any laws that would obstruct RP or building. General Must not set any laws that encourage or allow rule breaking or obstruct RP/building. Must not be killed during Mayor's grace for any reason. Any RP actions the Mayor makes during this period will void Mayor's grace. No camping of Mayor's office during or before grace. May authorize any person to construct a checkpoint. Reason for Demotion Laws that would give special treatment to a person or group Excludes laws that give special treatment to all government jobs Laws that bypass default laws Examples: Money printers, armor stations, drug labs. Hitman: Hitmen may kill anyone with a hit, excluding the Mayor when in grace. You may claim hits protected by building signs, but not by raiding or using raid tools. You may raid to claim a hit, but you must leave the raid after claiming the hit.1 point
